National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan

The meeting brought together representatives from the Ministry of Ecology, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Institute for the Development of Social Protection, the “Family and Gender” Research Institute, "Asaka Bank" and the nationwide movement “Yuksalish.”

Participants reviewed the effectiveness of the Advisory Council under the Ministry of Ecology in implementing the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Guarantees of Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men” and in fulfilling the objectives of the working group under the Senate Committee on Youth, Women, Culture and Sports.

Special attention was given to the empowerment of women in environmental policy, their participation in environmental legislation and state programs, the advancement of women’s professional training in the environmental sector, and ensuring their active involvement in solving regional environmental issues.

Council members proposed measures to improve the registration of women working in the environmental field and to promote their involvement in scientific research and practical activities.

In conclusion, members of the Gender Commission expressed their readiness to support efforts to ensure gender equality in the environmental sector, while the Ministry of Ecology reaffirmed its commitment to implementing key initiatives aimed at expanding women’s participation in local environmental efforts.
