Illegal lime roasting activities harmful to the environment were halted

The reason for the raid was complaints from residents of the Khakan industrial zone of Andijan district about unpleasant odor associated with lime production.
The inspection revealed facts of illegal lime roasting activities. As a result, about ten kilns used for this process were shut down and dismantled.
Administrative measures were taken against the violators for the environmental offences committed. In one case, a fine of 10 BCV (3 750 000 sums) was imposed under Article 70 (1) of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. In seven other cases, fines of 35 BCV (13 125 000 sums) were imposed under article 91, paragraph 1. The total amount of penalties totalled 16 875 000 sums.
Official warnings were issued to the offenders. They were reminded of the inadmissibility of damaging the environment and of the liability for repeated violations stipulated by law.
