UN Adopts Uzbekistan’s Initiative for the Decade on Afforestation and Reforestation

The resolution received broad support, with more than 80 countries from various regions of the world joining as co-sponsors, including the Central Asian nations, Azerbaijan, Russia, Brazil, Austria, Germany, Finland, Portugal, India, Iran, Pakistan, the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain.
The resolution builds on the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan, such as the "Year of Environmental Protection and the "Green" Economy", the nationwide "Yashil Makon" (Green Space) project, and the "Green Belt of Central Asia" tree-planting campaign. It calls for mobilizing efforts and resources to implement afforestation and reforestation measures, and encourages countries and organizations to intensify their actions in this direction.
The adoption of this resolution highlights Uzbekistan’s growing role in global environmental initiatives and reflects its commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection.
