The campaign took place in Tashkent and Nukus, as well as in the administrative centers of all regions across the country. The main focus of the initiative was to encourage the public to refrain from using private vehicles in favor of eco-friendly alternatives — such as public transport, bicycles and walking.
During the event, private vehicle drivers were informed about the “Car-Free Day” campaign, which is held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. It was emphasized how giving up personal cars even for one day and switching to public transportation can significantly reduce air pollution.
For information: Cars are a constant source of air pollution throughout the year. Pollution levels spike especially during traffic jams when engines continue to run while vehicles are stationary.
The goal of “Car-Free Day” is to lower air pollution levels, improve environmental conditions, and promote a healthy lifestyle among the population. Using public transport or cycling increases physical activity, which has a positive impact on overall health.
Dear fellow citizens!
In an effort to reduce air pollution and enhance environmental well-being, we encourage you to limit the use of personal vehicles and actively support the “Car-Free Day” campaign held every fourth Wednesday of the month. Your participation will be a meaningful contribution to protecting the environment and improving health — for yourself, your loved ones and society as a whole.
