The day is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of living in harmony with the natural world, using natural resources sustainably and protecting the environment from degradation.
The theme of 2025 is "Our Power, Our Planet." — a call for united global action to address the climate crisis. It highlights the need to transition to renewable energy sources as a key step toward a more sustainable future.
Within the framework of the State Program for the implementation of the “Uzbekistan–2030” Strategy, declared the Year of Environmental Protection and "Green Economy", the country is pursuing ambitious goals in the field of renewable energy. By 2030, it plans to increase installed renewable capacity to 25 GW, enabling the production of 64 billion kWh of "green" energy annually, and raising its share to 50% or more of total power generation. Furthermore, starting in 2025, at least 15% of new investment projects must include green components — a figure set to rise to 30% by 2027 and 55% by 2030.
Each of us can contribute to the shift toward a sustainable future. Saving energy in daily life, using energy-efficient technologies, reducing resource consumption, and supporting initiatives that promote renewables are simple but impactful steps available to everyone. By joining this global movement, we actively take part in protecting the environment and promoting ecological resilience.
International Mother Earth Day is a reminder that caring for our planet begins with each of us. Let us use our power wisely, conserve resources, and strive for a cleaner, greener, and safer world for future generations.
