Illegal fishing caused significant damage to the nature of the Syrdarya River

These operations were launched in response to numerous public reports, with the aim of preventing the use of illegal fishing methods such as electric shock devices and prohibited nylon gillnets, especially during the fish spawning season.
During the raids, nearly 20 illegally installed nylon nets, totaling almost 1,000 meters in length, were seized and will be destroyed in accordance with established procedures. In addition, two individuals were apprehended for fishing with electrofishing. Confiscated as evidence were an aluminum boat, an engine, two batteries, an electrofishing, various fishing tools and 21 fish of different species.
As a result of the offence, the nature was damaged in the amount of 368 million 437 thousand 500 sums. All case materials have been handed over to law enforcement authorities.
The Ministry of Ecology urges all citizens to actively participate in the protection of natural resources and to strictly follow to established regulations when fishing.
