Clean Air Month: vehicle emissions inspections underway in Tashkent

Background: The “Clean Air” Month is a nationwide campaign held regularly to ensure the enforcement of the Laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Protection of Atmospheric Air” and “On Environmental Control”, as well as to carry out state ecological supervision of vehicle emissions.
The first phase is taking place from April 10 to May 10, while the second phase will run from August 10 to September 10 (and from September 10 to October 10 in Tashkent).
During the inspections, vehicles found to be emitting pollutants beyond the limits set by national standards are identified. The operation of such vehicles is suspended until the violations are resolved.
In addition, drivers of vehicles that fail to meet these standards are subject to administrative measures in accordance with the relevant articles of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
