According to Presidential Decree No. 37, issued on February 21, 2024, "On the State Program for the Implementation of the Strategy "Uzbekistan — 2030" in the "Year of Support for Youth and Business"", a series of measures have been introduced to protect the environment. In particular, based on proposals from environmental activists and civil society representatives, it was decided to hold "Car-Free Day" every month.
On this day, leaders and employees of public organizations, as well as all citizens, are encouraged to avoid using personal vehicles and instead opt for public transportation, walking, cycling, or other eco-friendly modes of travel.
For reference: Vehicle emissions are a major source of environmental pollution. Reducing the use of personal transport helps prevent harmful emissions, ease traffic congestion and improve the ecological situation in urban areas.
