The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change in collaboration with the "Zamin" International Public Foundation, Green University, and the Center for Advanced Studies and Retraining of Environmental Protection Personnel. It aligns with the Presidential Decrees of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to ensure environmental sustainability by further increasing the level of greening in the republic and the consistent implementation of the national project "Yashil Makon”” and “On the state program for the implementation of the strategy "Uzbekistan — 2030" in the "year of environmental protection and green economy".
Speaking at the event, Minister of Ecology Aziz Abdukhakimov emphasized that enhancing the environmental knowledge, skills and responsibility of young people is the most effective way to address ecological challenges.
“Environmental issues are becoming increasingly urgent: pollution, climate change, and the loss of green spaces are significantly affecting nature. The role of young people in solving these problems is enormous,” noted the minister. A. Abdukhakimov highlighted that the project will allow young people to deepen their ecological knowledge and develop skills in tree inventory management. “I am confident that together we will make a significant contribution to tree conservation and the expansion of green spaces,” added he.
During the event, the youth expressed their determination to live up to the trust placed in them. The minister, in turn, answered their questions and emphasized that the aspirations and initiatives of young people are always supported.
For Reference: The training courses focused on improving ecological literacy, studying the legal foundations of environmental protection in Uzbekistan, strengthening dendrological knowledge, determining tree species and ages, preventing tree diseases, and ensuring proper care. Participants also studied irrigation systems and worked with geodetic and GNSS equipment.
The “Tree Registry” project aims to identify all tree species in Tashkent, study their biological characteristics and role in the ecosystem, and assess their impact on the urban climate. As part of the initiative, an analysis of tree adaptation to changing climate conditions is being conducted, and measures are being developed to prepare the city for these changes. Additionally, a database is being created to systematically store information on tree species, locations, ages, conditions, and ecological characteristics.
The successful implementation of this course will contribute to improving Tashkent’s environmental conditions, strengthening green infrastructure and ensuring the city’s sustainable development.
