As part of the nationwide "Yashil Makon" (Green Space) project, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, together with the regional Department of Ecology and the regional Prosecutor’s Office, organized a tree-planting campaign. Young participants of the "Do you know environmental laws?" competition and eco-activists planted 600 saplings of elm, Siberian elm (gujum), and Crimean pine.
During the event, it was emphasized that increasing green spaces is an effective solution to pressing environmental issues such as climate change and air pollution.
Additionally, students were given a guided tour of the Zarafshan National Natural Park. During the visit, participants learned about the importance of protected natural areas in preserving biodiversity and the need to treat flora and fauna with care.
Furthermore, a tour of "Eternal City" in Samarkand was organized for the participants of the competition.
It is worth noting that, just as in other fields, the role and significance of youth in environmental protection are growing. Across all regions of the country, including the Republic of Karakalpakstan, young eco-activists concerned about environmental conservation are actively expressing their opinions on various urgent issues, participating in international events and discussions, and putting forward meaningful initiatives. The "Do you know environmental laws?" competition once again demonstrated that young people’s knowledge in this field is steadily strengthening.
For reference: The republican stage of the "Do You Know Environmental Laws?" competition among general education school teams is currently taking place in Samarkand. A similar stage for teams from professional education institutions will be held in Khorezm Region from March 17-19.
