Employees of the Lower Amudarya State Biosphere Reserve, under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, captured stunning footage of Bukhara red deer (Bactrian red deer) playfully enjoying the warm spring sun.

The Bukhara deer is listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan and CITES Appendix II as an endangered and locally distributed subspecies. It is also recognized as a transboundary migratory species under the Bonn Convention. In 2022, an interstate program and conservation plan for this species was officially approved.
For reference: The Lower Amudarya State Biosphere Reserve was established in August 2011 and is located in the Beruni and Amudarya districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The reserve is home to over 30 animal species, four of which are classified as rare. Among the most frequently observed species are the Bukhara red deer, jackal, reed cat and hare.
