A total of six working groups, comprising 70 staff members, were formed to inspect over 40 greenhouses across the Zangiata, Kibray and Tashkent districts. The investigation revealed several greenhouses emitting harmful substances above the acceptable limit, operating without required filters, and committing other violations. As a result, warnings were issued to 26 greenhouses and fines were imposed on the owners of two greenhouses for non-compliance with environmental standards.
It is important to note that the working groups consisted of employees from the State Environmental Control Inspectorate of the Ministry of Ecology, the Tashkent City and Tashkent Regional Environmental Protection Departments, the Prosecutor's Office, the Emergency Management Department, the National Guard and internal affairs officers. These working groups conduct regular environmental monitoring raids, particularly focusing on greenhouse activities during the autumn and winter months.
Throughout this period, investigations in Tashkent city and the Tashkent region have aimed to identify sources of atmospheric air pollution, assess pollutant levels and implement corrective actions to reduce excess emissions. Additionally, these raids have investigated cases of illegal energy usage. To date, 630 greenhouses have been inspected and both explanatory and preventive measures have been taken.
Fact!
396 greenhouses are operational, while 234 are seasonal (located in Zangiata – 77, Kibray – 12, Tashkent – 24, Yunusabad – 108, Mirzo-Ulugbek – 1, Yashnabad – 9, and Bektemir – 3). These seasonal greenhouses have remained active due to the absence of a boiler house.
During the autumn-winter heating season, the working groups issued fines to 58 greenhouses for violations, suspended 103 greenhouses and required 396 operational greenhouses to install dust and gas-cleaning equipment that meets environmental standards. Additionally, the use of rubber and other waste for heating was prohibited.
Control measures are ongoing.
