During the discussions, the parties reviewed prospects for a project aimed at adapting Uzbekistan’s economy to the water and climate crisis and the global green transition. The initiative is set for implementation in 2025–2026.
The Russian side proposed conducting joint scientific research focused on developing well-founded strategies for the medium- and long-term adaptation of Uzbekistan’s economy to changing water and climate conditions. It was emphasized that preparing practical recommendations will not only strengthen the expertise of Uzbekistan’s research centers in economic and political analysis of water and climate challenges but also serve as a crucial step in advancing scientific cooperation between the two countries.
The minister highlighted that this project could become a key platform for research collaboration, as well as for the exchange of knowledge and technologies across Central Asia. In this regard, it was proposed to establish a working group and organize a study visit to the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University) to engage with specialists in water resource management.
Based on the research findings, a "Strategy for Uzbekistan’s Economic Adaptation to Changing Water and Climate Conditions Until 2050" is expected to be developed.
The parties also agreed to expand cooperation in 2025, including the implementation of joint research projects and regular consultations within the framework of the "Year of Environmental Protection and "Green" Economy" to achieve mutually beneficial results.
