For Information: The Lower Amudarya State Biosphere Reserve, established in 2011, is located in the Beruniy and Amudarya districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The reserve is home to 36 animal species, including 4 classified as rare.
Currently, biotechnological measures are being implemented across all protected natural areas in the republic. These measures include distributing food in various locations within the reserve to support wildlife during the winter months. Specifically, there are 28 Bukhara deer in the reserve, each of which is given 2 kilograms of fodder and 10 kilograms of hay daily.
The Bactrian (Bukhara) red deer is listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan as an endangered, regionally distributed subspecies. It is also included in Appendix II of CITES and the Bonn Convention as a transboundary migratory species.
