Uzbekistan and Egypt signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of ecology

During the meeting, the foreign side was informed on a number of environmental initiatives launched in the country under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in order to green the republic, solve environmental problems, prevent dust and sand storms, and restore the ecosystem of the Aral Sea region. In this regard, A.Abdukhakimov noted the interest in the Egyptian project to plant 100 million trees in the Sinai Desert and in other areas of the country. The initiative of the Head of State to declare 2025 in Uzbekistan the "Year of Environmental Protection and "Green" Economy" was also highlighted.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the development of a "Program of cooperation in the field of tourism between the governments of Uzbekistan and Egypt for 2025-2027." Special attention was paid to the growth of the tourist flow between the two countries, the development of creative, inclusive and ecotourism, the promotion of national culture, art and historical heritage of the two countries among tourists.
At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding on environmental cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Arab Republic of Egypt. In this context, the parties agreed to hold regular bilateral consultations to monitor the implementation of the signed memorandum and develop new initiatives to strengthen cooperation in the environmental and tourism sectors. An agreement was also reached to create a working group and appoint responsible persons from the two ministries.
The Egyptian delegation also visited the Situation Centre of the Ministry of Ecology, where it got acquainted with the environmental monitoring system, the introduction of digital technologies for tracking environmental violations and mechanisms for rapid response to them.
