The camera trap of the Surkhan State Reserve, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, captured a group of screw-horned goats (markhors).

For reference: Founded on September 8, 1986, the Surkhan State Reserve is located in the Sherabad district of the Surkhandarya region. 194 species of animals, including 25 listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan, represent the fauna of the reserve.
The screw-horned goat is listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan, the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and Appendix I of CITES as an endangered, locally widespread subspecies.
In the 1950s and 1970s, the number of Marhurs decreased significantly. Later, thanks to environmental measures, it slowly recovered within the Surkhan Reserve and continues to decline in other areas. Currently, there are more than 400 screw-horned goats.
