The document was signed by Deputy Minister of Ecology Obidjon Kudratov and UN Assistant Secretary General and UNDP Regional Director for Europe and the CIS Ivana Zivkovic during the parallel event "Uzbekistan's Roadmap to NDCs 3.0 with a focus on integrating gender equality and social integration" within the framework of the COP29 global climate conference in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The aim of the project is to support Uzbekistan in the preparation of nationally determined contributions (NDCs) 3.0, undertaken by the Government of Uzbekistan to achieve the key objective of the Paris Agreement within the framework of the UNDP global platform "Climate Promise". In addition, this initiative supports the country in integrating biodiversity and social inclusion indicators to implement bold climate actions identified in the NDCs, long-term development strategies (LT-LEDS), green development plans, and more, which in turn contribute to the promotion of national development priorities and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition, the project helps to build the capacity of civil servants and institutions and promote knowledge sharing and mutual learning on the issues of closed-loop economics and climate, interdepartmental and intersectoral coordination to address the issues of the relationship between agriculture, water, and energy, as well as gender and social integration to facilitate their inclusion in NDCs 3.0.
The project, worth 250 thousand US dollars, is planned to be implemented from December 2024 to December 2025.
