The law provides for amendments and additions to 2 existing codes and 2 laws.
In particular, amendments and additions are being made to the Criminal Code aimed at strengthening responsibility for violating the order of use of the animal or plant world. For hunting or fishing with the use of electric current, explosives, chemicals, and biological preparations, it is punishable by a fine from 400 to 600 basic calculated values or restriction of liberty from 3 to 5 years with deprivation of a certain right or imprisonment from 3 to 7 years. As an additional punishment in aggravating circumstances, a penalty in the form of deprivation of certain rights is also introduced.
The amount of fines provided for by the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility for violation of the rules of hunting and fishing, as well as the rules for the implementation of other types of wildlife, is also doubled. Intentional damage, damage, or destruction of trees, shrubs, or other plants in violation of established requirements with the use of chemical, biological agents during the construction or reconstruction of buildings, structures, or other objects on its territory entails the imposition of a fine on citizens from 35 to 50, and on officials – from 60 to 75 basic calculation values (BCV).
The responsibility for violating the rules of hunting and fishing as well as the rules for the implementation of other types of environmental management has doubled.
At the same time, responsibility for obstructing the legitimate activities of the state inspector of environmental authorities, as well as non-compliance with his instructions, is increasing, which entails the imposition of a fine on citizens from 5 to 10, and on officials from 20 to 30 BCV.
In addition, the norms of the laws "On the Protection and Use of Wildlife" and "On Hunting and Hunting Economy" are brought into line, which eliminate legal gaps related to hunting weapons, including fishing.
It should be noted that the adoption of the law serves to protect biological resources by preventing cases of illegal hunting, preventing the death of trees and shrubs, increasing the effectiveness of the state institute of environmental control, ensuring environmental sustainability in the country, and guaranteed protection of natural resources.
