The event will focus on key areas of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in addressing climate change, implementing national climate commitments and mobilising investment for climate adaptation and resilience-building initiatives.
Particular attention will be given to the implementation of Uzbekistan’s third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0) under the Paris Agreement, strengthening institutional capacity, expanding access to climate finance and developing investment-ready projects.
One of the key topics will be advancing Uzbekistan’s proposed engagement with the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD). The event will also highlight Uzbekistan’s participation as one of the initial pilot countries in the Climate BRIDGE initiative, with UNDP serving as a delivery partner. The initiative aims to help translate national climate commitments under NDC 3.0 into concrete investment opportunities and a pipeline of projects.
Another important area of discussion will be cooperation on the development of National Adaptation Plans, as well as efforts to strengthen the climate resilience of vulnerable regions and communities, particularly in the Aral Sea region.
The event will bring together representatives of government institutions of Uzbekistan, UNDP, international financial institutions, development partners and other stakeholders.
The programme will include presentations on the achievements and future priorities of the Uzbekistan–UNDP climate partnership, discussions on opportunities for accessing financing through the FRLD and an overview of how the Climate BRIDGE initiative can support the implementation of national climate priorities and the preparation of investment-ready projects.
The discussions are expected to help identify further practical steps to strengthen cooperation, mobilise climate finance and advance initiatives aimed at enhancing the country's climate resilience.
