The delegation of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan was headed by Deputy Chairman I. Kutbiddinov and included representatives of the National Centre for Climate Change, the Hydrometeorological Service Agency and the Hydrometeorological Research Institute. The Kazakh delegation was headed by A. Kuantyrov, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation in ambient air protection, enhancing air quality monitoring, and jointly investigating sources of transboundary pollution. Particular attention was given to the establishment of the Interstate “Clean Air” Consortium as a mechanism for coordinating joint efforts between the two countries.
The participants placed particular emphasis on further developing a Roadmap of Joint Activities for 2026–2030. The roadmap envisages coordinated measures to improve ambient air quality, as well as the establishment of timely data exchange on air quality monitoring between the relevant authorities of the two countries.
The implementation of the agreements reached will strengthen bilateral cooperation, enhance the effectiveness of environmental information exchange and promote coordinated approaches to addressing the challenge of transboundary air pollution.
Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan under the “Clean Air” Initiative aims to bring together expert expertise and develop joint solutions to ensure a healthier and more sustainable environment across the region.
