National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan

The meeting reviewed the draft Code’s key provisions, its significance for improving national environmental legislation, and the development of a unified and coherent legal framework for environmental protection.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening mechanisms for preventing environmental pollution, ensuring the rational use of natural resources, conserving biodiversity and enhancing the effectiveness of state environmental control.

Participants exchanged views on the draft’s provisions and discussed proposals to improve the legal mechanisms set out in the document, taking into account contemporary environmental challenges and international approaches.

Following the discussion, the next steps in the development and further refinement of the draft Environmental Code were identified.

The adoption of the Environmental Code is expected to further strengthen environmental legislation, improve the effectiveness of environmental policy and reinforce the legal framework for ensuring the country’s environmental security.
