Temporary Deterioration in Air Quality Expected in Tashkent

According to forecasts, air quality during the night and early morning is expected to fall mainly within the “unhealthy for sensitive groups” category under the international Air Quality Index (AQI), while the national air quality classification system is expected to rate it as “good”.
According to global meteorological models and forecasts by Uzhydromet, overnight temperatures may drop to 14°C, with wind speeds of around 0–2 m/s. Under these conditions, a temperature inversion may develop as the air near the ground cools rapidly while warmer air remains above it. Light winds and temperature inversions restrict air circulation in the lower atmosphere. As a result, fine particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) may accumulate near the ground, temporarily increasing concentrations during the night and early morning.
During the day, air quality is expected to gradually improve as the ground warms, the inversion weakens and vertical air mixing intensifies. In view of the forecast conditions, people are advised to avoid spending prolonged periods outdoors in the evening.
The Special Commission continues to monitor ambient air quality on an ongoing basis.
