After 19:00, the concentration of particulate matter (PM) in the air increased, and air quality across the city reached the "unhealthy" level. On the morning of 8 October, air quality in most parts of the city returned to the ‘moderate’ level, while some areas remained at the ‘unhealthy for sensitive groups’ level. According to the forecast, air quality is expected to remain mostly at the ‘moderate’ level until midday.
For reference, a national air quality indexing system for assessing PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations has been developed in Uzbekistan pursuant to a joint resolution of the Ministry of Health and the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change on the introduction of national air quality indexing and preventive measures to reduce the impact of air pollution on public health.
Air quality is currently being continuously monitored by the Special Commission.
