The Regional Dialogue brought together representatives of participating countries, the GCF, international financial institutions and the private sector to discuss climate finance, investment project preparation, the development of country platforms and opportunities to strengthen regional cooperation.
Speaking at a session on country climate platforms, Alisher Salomov highlighted the need to move from strategic dialogue to the implementation of concrete investment initiatives. He also stressed the importance of strengthening regional cooperation on early warning systems, the exchange of climate and environmental data, water resources management, air quality, adaptation and decarbonisation.
During discussions with GCF leadership, particular attention was given to further expanding Uzbekistan’s access to climate finance, supporting the accreditation process of Uzpromstroybank, and developing a prospective pipeline of projects. The parties discussed next steps to strengthen practical cooperation and prepare new investment initiatives.
A key focus of the Dialogue was mobilising private capital for the implementation of climate projects. The Uzbek side presented promising areas for investment, including waste management, water-saving technologies, sustainable agriculture, industrial decarbonisation, energy efficiency and climate-resilient infrastructure.
