This resolution was developed on the basis of paragraph 2 of the "Roadmap" for the implementation of documents signed during the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the People's Republic of China (January 23-25, 2024).
It is worth noting that during the state visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the People's Republic of China (on January 23-25, 2024) an agreement on cooperation with the People's Republic of China in the field of environmental protection was signed on January 24.
The agreement consists of 11 articles, the main purpose of which is to establish and expand cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in all areas of environmental protection. The document also defines the following main areas of cooperation:
1) Prevention and control of air pollution, monitoring of the air environment.
For reference: a volume of atmospheric emissions in Uzbekistan in 2021 amounted to 2.2 million tons (1.3 million tons (58 percent) of emissions were from vehicles and 909.0 thousand tons (42 percent) from industrial enterprises). In this regard, it is relevant to study the experience of the environmental authorities of the People's Republic of China and the examples of the cities of Shanghai and Beijing on reducing emissions of pollutants by industrial enterprises, improving air quality, and modernizing the air quality monitoring system.
2) Prevention and control of water pollution.
3) Prevention and control of solid waste pollution.
Currently, in the field of waste management and recycling, cooperation is underway with such Chinese companies as China CAMC Engineering.
4) Conservation and restoration of ecosystems.
5) Promotion of scientific research, education, and professional training in the field of environmental protection.
For information: On January 22, 2024, at the First Uzbek-Chinese Educational Forum in Beijing, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University), Beijing Institute of Technology, and Tianjin University of Foreign Languages. This agreement creates a basis for the exchange of information and experience in the field of ecology and environmental protection between the two countries, the organization of scientific research, and the development of human resources.
