"Clean Air" Month: cars are checked in Tashkent

For information: the "Clean Air" Month is regularly held throughout the republic in order to comply with the requirements of articles 16, 17, and 28 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Atmospheric Air Protection" and Article 11 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Environmental Control", as well as to carry out state environmental control over the environmental condition of vehicles in operation.
In particular, the 1st stage of the "Clean Air" month was held from April 10 to May 10 this year, and the second stage – from August 10 to September 10. In Tashkent, the event lasts from September 10 to October 10.
During the event, the amount of harmful gases emitted into the atmosphere by motor vehicles will be checked with the help of special equipment. Drivers of vehicles deemed to be environmentally defective will be prohibited from operating the vehicle until the malfunction is fixed.
For information: during the first stage of the "Clean Air" month, 205,184 cars were subjected to environmental control, and during the second stage, 167,324. As a result of the identified malfunctions and the shutdown of operation of non-conforming vehicles, 147.2 tons of pollutants were prevented from being released into the atmosphere at the first stage and 82.1 tons at the second stage.
At the same time, measures are being taken against drivers of motor vehicles who have violated the established norms of state standards in accordance with the relevant articles of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
