She stressed that the drying up of the Aral Sea was not a natural disaster, but the result of misguided decisions made over decades and an unjust approach to nature. She also noted that the New Uzbekistan has mobilised all available resources to mitigate the consequences of this catastrophe.
“We are widely introducing modern water-saving technologies. We have set a goal of increasing the share of renewable energy to 54 percent by 2030. We do not want the Aral Sea region to remain merely a symbol of environmental catastrophe. It should become a region where environmental solutions are tested and put into practice,” Saida Mirziyoyeva said.
She also noted that Uzbekistan aims to increase the share of renewable energy to 54 percent by 2030.
It should be noted that, at the initiative of Uzbekistan, 2027–2036 has been declared the “Decade of Action for Afforestation and Forest Restoration”. This also demonstrates the country’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges through international cooperation and practical solutions.
