National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan

This year’s symposium will be dedicated to the theme “Ecology, Art and Climate Change”. Talented sculptors from Uzbekistan, Germany, Spain, Romania, Belgium, Argentina, Peru, Iran, India, Oman, Japan, Tunisia, Georgia and Lithuania are expected to take part.

Unlike in previous years, sculptures created during this year’s symposium will be made from marble, metal, polymer resin, wood and household waste.

For reference, in July and August, the Association of Artists of Uzbekistan announced a competition under the themes “Ecology and Climate Change”, “Combating Desertification”, “Forests and Green Spaces”, “Green Gardens and Landscape Environment”, “A World Without Waste”, “Clean Air”, “Conservation of Biodiversity”, “Astronomy and Hydrometeorology”, as well as an open category. Following the competition, nearly 200 sculptors from almost 50 countries submitted more than 300 design proposals to the symposium jury. The 30 best projects were selected for the symposium.

Through the medium of sculpture, the symposium aims to raise public awareness of environmental issues and nature conservation, contribute to the development of Tashkent’s cultural environment and artistic landscape, foster effective creative cooperation and the exchange of experience with sculptors from other countries, and introduce the wider public to high-quality works of art that reflect the traditions of world sculpture.
