Camera traps installed in the Chatkal State Biosphere Reserve under the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change have captured footage of representatives of Chatkal’s rich wildlife, including the Tien Shan brown bear and Siberian ibex.

The Tien Shan brown bear is one of the largest predators inhabiting the region’s mountain ecosystems. It is listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan as a vulnerable subspecies with a wide but fragmented distribution. The species inhabits remote areas of the Western Tien Shan and plays an important role in maintaining ecological balance. The Siberian ibex is a characteristic inhabitant of high-mountain environments. Its strong hooves and remarkable endurance enable it to move confidently across steep, rocky terrain.
The Chatkal State Biosphere Reserve is one of Uzbekistan’s specially protected natural areas, safeguarding the unique mountain ecosystems and rich biological diversity of the Western Tien Shan.
