During an inspection conducted in the Baytish mahalla of Yangiyul District, inspectors found that a group of individuals was illegally extracting sand and gravel from the protected water zone of the Chirchiq River using heavy machinery, including an excavator and a dump truck. The illegally extracted materials were being transported from the site.
A similar violation was also uncovered during an inspection in the Mevazor mahalla of Kuyichirchiq District. A group of individuals was found illegally extracting sand and gravel directly from the Chirchiq Riverbed using an excavator and a dump truck. The extracted materials were being transported to a nearby stone-crushing facility. It was established that the machinery involved belongs to F.M. LLC, a company engaged in stone-crushing operations.
In both cases, the offenders grossly violated the requirements of Article 18 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Nature Protection," Article 31 of the Law "On Subsoil," and Article 41 of the Law "On Protected Natural Areas." As a result, significant environmental damage was caused.
Following the inspections, the heavy machinery used in the illegal activities was impounded and placed in a penalty parking lot. The collected case materials have been forwarded to the General Prosecutor’s Office for legal assessment and further action.
