National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan

The event served as an important platform for exchanging advanced practices in preventing desertification, restoring degraded lands, and strengthening international cooperation on the sustainable management of natural resources.

The event was attended by Aziz Abdukhakimov, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Environmental Issues and Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change; Erkin Mukhitdinov, Director of the Forestry Agency; Shi Guanhui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; as well as representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, the scientific community, international organizations and the media.

During the event, participants discussed contemporary approaches to promoting environmental sustainability, preventing desertification, expanding forest cover, restoring degraded lands, and implementing joint environmental initiatives. Particular attention was given to the application of innovative technologies and scientific advances in forestry and grassland management.

One of the highlights of the programme was an exhibition showcasing China's achievements in combating desertification in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Visitors were introduced to the outcomes of China's large-scale national programme aimed at establishing an ecological shelterbelt and restoring degraded ecosystems.

Participants also viewed the documentary "Green Silk Road: Rebirth in the Desert", which highlights the implementation of China's "Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program". The film demonstrated the country's decades-long experience in afforestation of arid regions, land restoration  and the development of an effective system for combating desertification.

The practical component of the programme included an exchange of expertise between specialists from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the Republic of Uzbekistan in the fields of forestry and grassland management. During the thematic presentations, Wang Zhaosheng, Director of the Forestry and Grassland Administration of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, presented China's experience in ecosystem restoration, the application of advanced technologies for raising planting material  and sustainable forest resource management. Bakhtiyor Pulatov, Rector of Green University, spoke about the development of scientific and educational cooperation, the training of environmental specialists, and the prospects for implementing joint research projects.

A key outcome of the event was the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between M-Grass Ecology and Environment Group Co., Ltd. and Green University. The agreement provides for the implementation of joint projects on seed and seedling production, the restoration of degraded grasslands, combating desertification and the introduction of advanced environmental technologies.

The agreements reached mark another important step in strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in the fields of ecology and sustainable natural resource management. They build upon the agreements previously signed by the delegation of the Forestry Agency in Yinchuan during the international conference "China–Central Asia Cooperation on Combating Desertification" and create new opportunities for implementing joint initiatives aimed at conserving natural ecosystems, increasing forest cover and addressing climate change.
