Strict measures are being taken against the burning of fields after the wheat harvest

As part of preventive efforts, the Committee's territorial departments have distributed 7,760 warning notices to farming enterprises, urging them to refrain from burning fields after the grain harvest.
In addition, the territorial divisions of the Environmental Police conducted inspection and enforcement activities. Based on the processing and analysis of satellite imagery provided by the "Uzbekcosmos Agency", 744 cases of fires on fields cleared after the wheat harvest were identified. State environmental inspectors carried out on-site inspections in every case. As a result, administrative fines totaling 212.5 sums million were imposed on 172 violators, while the environmental damage caused was assessed at UZS 652.3 million.
Furthermore, as part of ongoing enforcement measures aimed at preventing the burning of crop residues, fallen leaves, branches, other plant waste and construction waste in both agricultural fields and populated areas, a total of 9,821 violations have been identified since the beginning of the year. Appropriate administrative reports have been prepared in accordance with the established legal procedures.
The National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Climate Change calls on citizens and farming enterprises to take all necessary measures to prevent the burning of straw and other crop residues on fields after the grain harvest and to refrain from practices that cause harm to the environment.
