Environmental Experts Hold Open Dialogue with Youth on Youth Day

The event brought together Zarrina Abdullaeva, Head of Department at the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Climate Change; Bakhrom Kholkhujayev, Head of Department at the Committee; Farrukh Sattarov, Director of the National Climate Change Centre; Gafurjon Qarshiboyev, Deputy Director of the Forestry Agency under the Committee; Olimjon Hakimov, Director of the "Yashilloyiha" Institute; Ibrat Karimov, Deputy Director of the Hydrometeorological Service Agency; Shirin Abidova, Adviser to the Director of the Youth Affairs Agency and environmental activists from all regions of Uzbekistan.
The discussion focused on current environmental challenges and practical approaches to addressing them. Participants received recommendations on expanding green spaces, conserving biodiversity, protecting flora and fauna and implementing effective climate change adaptation measures.
Young participants were also provided with detailed answers to questions on combating desertification, ensuring proper care of trees and shrubs planted under the nationwide "Yashil Makon" (Green Space) project, selecting suitable tree species based on the climatic conditions of each region, preventing the open burning of tree branches and a range of other environmental issues.
The dialogue also provided an opportunity to consider proposals and initiatives put forward by environmental activists. Speakers emphasized that young people play a vital role not only in improving the country's environmental situation but also in strengthening the ecological resilience of the entire region and reducing the adverse impacts of human activities on nature.
