The birds were bred at a specialized breeding centre operated by the Representative Office of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the Republic of Kazakhstan. After completing the necessary pre-release preparation, they were transported to the Aral Sea region and released into the wild.
The release was carried out under the supervision of specialists from the territorial divisions of the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Climate Change, international experts, representatives of the CITES Management Authority and specialists from Falcon Hunting Solutions LLC. This coordinated approach helps ensure compliance with international standards for the conservation of endangered species and enhances the effectiveness of species reintroduction programmes.
Restoring the houbara bustard population is of particular importance for the Aral Sea region. The ecological crisis caused by the desiccation of the Aral Sea has significantly altered the natural ecosystems of Karakalpakstan, leading to the loss of natural habitats for many species characteristic of desert and steppe landscapes and adversely affecting their populations.
The houbara bustard is among the rare species requiring special protection. Its return to its natural habitat contributes to the restoration of ecological balance and the conservation of the unique biodiversity of the Aral Sea region.
The release forms part of a comprehensive programme aimed at restoring ecological balance, conserving the region's unique wildlife, and reintroducing endangered species into their natural habitats. The implementation of such initiatives has been made possible through international cooperation and the combined efforts of government institutions, environmental organizations, and international partners.
Long-term programmes to restore houbara bustard populations and protect their natural habitats will continue as part of ongoing biodiversity conservation efforts in the Aral Sea region.
