National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan

The symposium was organized by the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Climate Change, the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant, the Khokimiyat of Tashkent Region, the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, and the Artists’ Union of Uzbekistan. The event brought together 18 sculptors from China, France, Italy, Türkiye, Georgia and Uzbekistan.

Over the course of 24 days, the artists created works under the theme “Stone, Metal and the Environment,” reflecting some of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. Through their sculptures, they highlighted issues related to the conservation of natural resources, the need for collective action to protect the environment, and the adverse consequences of irresponsible attitudes toward nature, while conveying other important environmental messages.

In addition to marble sourced from the Zarband quarry in Samarkand Region, which has traditionally been used for the symposium, metal supplied by the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant was incorporated into the creative process for the first time. The symposium also featured international seminars and educational programmes, during which foreign sculptors shared their creative experience, presented their distinctive artistic approaches, and discussed contemporary trends in global sculpture. As a result, the symposium became a valuable platform for professional development, particularly for young sculptors participating in such an event for the first time.

Furthermore, weekend excursions to Tashkent and Samarkand were organized for the participants, providing them with an opportunity to discover the country’s rich history, cultural heritage, national traditions, and the achievements of New Uzbekistan.

At the conclusion of the symposium, the artists received well-deserved awards in recognition of their outstanding works, which offered original interpretations of environmental themes.

The 5th International Sculpture Symposium "Tashkent–2026" marked another important step toward fostering new creative ideas, strengthening international cooperation and launching new collaborative projects.
