The release was jointly organized by the Border Troops of the State Security Service, the Department for the Development of Eco-Territories and Hunting under the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Climate Change, and the Institute of Zoology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
For reference: in 2025, law enforcement authorities prevented an attempt to illegally smuggle saker falcons across the state border. Specialists from the Institute of Zoology of the Academy of Sciences confirmed that the birds belong to an endangered species listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan.
The saker falcon is also one of the rarest birds of prey in Central Asia and is protected under international conservation agreements.
The birds subsequently underwent a specialized programme of care and rehabilitation. Following a comprehensive assessment by specialists, all five saker falcons were found to be in satisfactory condition and were released back into their natural habitat.
