The event is organized by the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Khokimiyat of Tashkent Region, the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan and the Creative Union of Artists of Uzbekistan. As part of the symposium, participants are creating sculptural works using stone and metal.
The symposium is being held within the framework of the 8th Assembly of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the 71st GEF Council Meeting, which took place in Samarkand, as well as the international exhibition Eco Expo Central Asia 2026. Around 20 renowned sculptors from Italy, France, China, Türkiye, Georgia and Uzbekistan are participating in the event, presenting works on the theme “Ecology and Art” dedicated to nature conservation.
While sculptures created during previous symposiums were installed in Tashkent and Samarkand, the artworks produced during this year’s forum will be placed in the city of Nurafshon in Tashkent Region following the conclusion of the event. This initiative is expected to contribute to raising environmental awareness and promoting environmentally responsible lifestyles among the public.
The choice of the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant as the venue for the symposium is no coincidence. The enterprise provides a unique opportunity to demonstrate the connection between creative and technological processes, explore innovative solutions for green development, and create works of art that inspire new approaches to addressing environmental challenges.
The symposium will continue until 26 June. The projects presented not only possess significant artistic value but also serve as an important reminder of the need to care for our planet and preserve the environment for future generations.
