In accordance with Part 3 of Article 88 of the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility, individuals and landowners found responsible for burning straw and crop residues are subject to administrative fines of up to 10 basic calculation units. In addition, compensation for damages caused by fire is recovered in the prescribed manner for each hectare of grain cropland affected.
Attention!
The burning of straw and crop residues releases large quantities of toxic substances into the atmosphere that are hazardous to human health, including carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), benzo[a]pyrene, dioxins, dibenzofurans, sulfur oxides, phosgene and other harmful compounds.
Exposure to high temperatures destroys the macro- and micronutrients contained in the soil, reducing its fertility and adversely affecting its long-term productivity.
For reference, under the State Space Monitoring Programme, the Agency for Space Research and Technologies under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzbekcosmos), in cooperation with authorized government bodies, conducts systematic monitoring to detect incidents of straw burning, identify violators and ensure prompt enforcement measures.
Dear farmers and landowners, Instead of burning straw, consider using it for composting or processing it for livestock feed and other agricultural purposes. By protecting nature today, we safeguard a sustainable future for generations to come.
