That is precisely what makes it so important and meaningful. The GEF Assembly provides a unique platform that convenes representatives of governments, civil society and individuals committed to contributing to the protection of our planet. After all, Earth is our only home.

Uzbekistan is becoming part of the GEF family and is beginning to make financial contributions to the Global Environment Facility. This is undoubtedly very encouraging and highly significant news. In today’s complex geopolitical environment, the decision of a new country to support global efforts aimed at protecting nature is an achievement that deserves special recognition.

This demonstrates that Uzbekistan has correctly identified its priorities and attaches great importance to environmental issues. Most importantly, it reflects the strong sense of responsibility and commitment of the people of Uzbekistan to the cause of nature conservation.

The address delivered by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the participants of the Assembly’s opening ceremony was exceptionally sincere and inspiring. It conveyed powerful messages about cooperation, the protection of our planet and the invaluable role that nature plays in the well-being of humanity.
