Green Investments and Climate Innovations of Central Asia Discussed in Samarkand

The session served as a platform for discussing modern approaches to attracting environmental investments, implementing innovative solutions, and promoting sustainable development in Central Asian countries against the backdrop of intensifying climate challenges and growing environmental risks.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Aziz Abdukhakimov, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change. He emphasized the importance of developing international partnerships, integrating green technologies, and expanding sustainable financing mechanisms to ensure the environmental security and sustainable economic growth of the region.
"For Uzbekistan, the green transformation is no longer merely a part of the international climate agenda—it is an integral element of our state development strategy. Today, the country is consistently transitioning from the stage of formulating climate commitments to the stage of their practical implementation. We are convinced that it is precisely the integration of investments, innovations, and technologies that will allow us to turn climate challenges into new opportunities for sustainable economic growth," stated A. Abdukhakimov.
The plenary discussion was attended by Yerlan Nysanbayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Bahodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan; Sara Pavkov, Minister of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia; and Omar Al-Midani, President and CEO of Vision Invest.
During the session, participants discussed the development of green investments and sustainable financing, the integration of ESG approaches in business and industry, the advancement of renewable energy and eco-friendly transport, as well as prospects for expanding international cooperation in the field of climate innovations. Special attention was paid to the development of the circular economy, the implementation of clean-tech solutions, waste recycling, water-saving technologies, and sustainable agriculture.
Participants also examined mechanisms for attracting international financial resources for the implementation of environmental projects, the promotion of climate resilience, and the scaling of innovative solutions in Central Asian countries.
During the discussion, it was noted that the development of green technologies, support for environmentally responsible businesses, and the strengthening of regional interaction are key conditions for sustainable development and an effective response to the impacts of climate change.
Particular focus was placed on the restoration of degraded landscapes, combating desertification, enhancing water and climate resilience, as well as developing B2B and B2G platforms to attract investments and promote joint environmental initiatives. The high-level plenary session served as a crucial platform for strengthening international dialogue, presenting the region's investment potential, and advancing innovative solutions in the spheres of the green economy and sustainable development.
