The initiative was dedicated to exploring the interconnectedness of land, water, and climate in Uzbekistan, bringing together children and adolescents from across all regions of the country. Serving as part of the GEF Assembly's cultural and educational program, the competition aimed to foster environmental awareness among the younger generation, nurture their creative talents, and draw greater attention to issues of environmental protection. Participants were invited to use their artwork to express their unique perspectives on nature, water resources, climate change, and the future of sustainable development in Uzbekistan.
The competition welcomed entries from children in preschool educational institutions as well as students from comprehensive schools, ranging in age from 4 to 18 years. The artworks were submitted across three age categories and were prominently exhibited at the Silk Road Samarkand Congress Center throughout the duration of the Assembly.
Following the national stage of the competition, winners were selected from among preschool children and students in the younger age groups. The awardees included talented representatives from the city of Tashkent, as well as the Samarkand, Fergana, Navoi, Namangan, and Khorezm regions.
The best submissions were recognized with commemorative prizes and certificates. Furthermore, the winning drawings were showcased to the participants and international delegations at the GEF Assembly, serving as a powerful symbol of the Uzbek youth's active engagement in environmental issues and the pursuit of a sustainable future.
It was emphasized during the event that the competition provided a vital platform for children to express their views on contemporary environmental challenges, once again demonstrating the youth's growing interest and proactive stance in nature conservation and climate change.
