For reference, it is planned to establish pistachio plantations across a total area of 50,000 hectares in Nurabad District over the period 2026–2036. In 2026, intensive plantations are scheduled to be developed on 5,000 hectares, alongside the creation of water supply infrastructure and the introduction of modern agricultural technologies. During the current spring season, plantations have been established on 252 hectares using seedlings and on 290 hectares through direct seeding. At the initial stage of the project, the creation of 500 jobs is envisaged.
It should be noted that this initiative is aimed at restoring degraded lands and ensuring their efficient use. In accordance with agronomic requirements, pistachio trees begin to bear fruit after 6–7 years and reach high productivity from the 12th year onward.
At present, the “Yashilloyiha” Design Institute under the Committee on Ecology is conducting land assessments, analyzing soil and climatic conditions, and developing planting schemes. The implementation of the project will help prevent land degradation, increase the production of export-oriented goods, create employment opportunities, and enhance the region’s environmental sustainability.
