A key area of cooperation will be the establishment of a specialized laboratory at the University for the cultivation and study of spirulina—a microalga with significant potential in sustainable agriculture, food security and biotechnology. The project is being implemented within the framework of an initiative aimed at developing sustainable agricultural production systems on degraded lands in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, where issues of soil restoration and the efficient use of resources are of particular importance.
During the discussions, the parties addressed the organization of the laboratory based on modern scientific infrastructure, the expansion of international collaboration, and the adoption of innovative research approaches. Particular attention was given to equipping the laboratory with advanced equipment, which is expected to be secured through grant funding with the support of ICBA.
The implementation of this project is expected to make a meaningful contribution to enhancing environmental sustainability in the regions, strengthening the country’s scientific capacity, and training a new generation of highly qualified specialists. Furthermore, cooperation with ICBA will facilitate the integration of Uzbekistan’s scientific community into global research networks and accelerate the adoption of advanced environmental solutions in practice.
