During the inspections, 75 construction sites located in both urban and rural areas were brought under environmental control. Of these, 15 sites were inspected in the cities of Fergana, Margilan, and Kokand, while a further 60 were located in districts, including Kuva, Furkat, Besharyk, Rishtan, Buvayda and others.
The inspections revealed that a number of sites were committing serious violations of waste management legislation. As a result of the operations, 31 cases of non-compliance were identified, primarily related to breaches of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Waste” and other relevant regulatory acts. Administrative fines totaling 16 million UZS were imposed on those found responsible.
Particular attention during the operations was given to the elimination of illegal dumpsites and the improvement of sanitary and environmental conditions. As a result of prompt actions, 34 unauthorized dumpsites were identified, from which approximately 679 tonnes of various types of waste were removed. All identified sites were fully cleared, and the collected waste was transported to designated disposal facilities.
Alongside enforcement measures, active efforts are being made in the region to raise environmental awareness among the public and the business community. With the participation of partner organizations, outreach activities were conducted to prevent environmental violations. In addition, 28 meetings were held in public spaces and settlements, during which more than 350 citizens and business representatives were informed about legal requirements and principles of environmentally responsible behavior.
Another important area of work is the implementation of the “Eco-Sticker” system, aimed at enhancing the environmental safety of vehicles. As of 30 April, an additional 783 eco-stickers had been issued, bringing the total number of vehicles covered by the system to 9,589.
