Uzhydromet Strengthens International Cooperation on the Sidelines of the RES-2026 Summit

As part of the Conference, Sherzod Khabibullaev delivered a presentation during a panel session titled “Early Warning Systems in Central Asia: From Regional Cooperation to a Sustainable Future.” His remarks provided a comprehensive overview of Uzbekistan’s ongoing efforts to advance hydrometeorological observation systems, including the modernization of monitoring networks, the large-scale deployment of automated stations, and the effective use of satellite data. Particular emphasis was placed on enhancing early warning systems and improving forecasting accuracy.
On the sidelines of the Summit, the Uzhydromet delegation held a number of important bilateral meetings. In particular, discussions with the leadership of the World Meteorological Organization focused on the modernization of the hydrometeorological network, as well as the adoption of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence–based solutions.
Agreements were also reached to expand cooperation with the hydrometeorological services of India, China, Russia, and Türkiye in the areas of data exchange, joint research, and capacity building.
In addition, meetings were held with representatives of international organizations and development institutions, including KPMG and GIZ, during which prospects for sectoral digitalization, institutional development and the implementation of technical assistance programs were discussed.
The delegation also participated in a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Central Asia Flash Flood Guidance System (CAFFGS), where issues related to the system’s further development, strengthening regional cooperation and the exchange of best practices were considered.
Participation in the RES-2026 Summit marked an important step for the Uzhydromet Agency in expanding international cooperation, gaining exposure to advanced practices and promoting the adoption of modern technologies.
