The first session of the conference set the overall political and strategic tone of the CACCC-2026 agenda. Particular attention was given to the implementation of updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) of the countries of the region. Heads of relevant government agencies and representatives of international organizations discussed climate policy priorities, existing financing needs, as well as opportunities to strengthen the implementation of NDC 3.0.
The event brought together representatives of government institutions and leading international organizations, including the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), the NDC Partnership, the World Bank, and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). Participants emphasized the importance of consolidating efforts, exchanging experience, and expanding access to climate finance in order to achieve set objectives.
From Uzbekistan, Farrukh Sattarov, Director of the National Center for Climate Change under the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, delivered a speech. He highlighted key developments in the national climate governance system and the implementation of NDC 3.0.
Special emphasis was placed on Uzbekistan’s active development of its green finance system, with ongoing efforts to create a favorable investment environment and expand cooperation with international financial institutions. Special attention is given to the introduction of green technologies, with projects being implemented in renewable energy development, energy efficiency improvement, and sustainable water resource management.
In addition, the climate agenda is being systematically integrated into various sectors of the economy, including agriculture, energy, transport, and industry. This cross-sectoral approach enables comprehensive solutions and enhances the synergistic effect of implemented measures.
Another important priority is the improvement of monitoring and reporting systems. Uzbekistan is strengthening mechanisms for greenhouse gas accounting and assessment of climate project implementation, ensuring more accurate tracking of progress and enabling timely adjustments to national policy.
