Results of the 2nd International Youth Environmental Camp

Within the framework of the camp, together with international experts, many events were held to prepare for the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). The participants also prepared and expanded proposals on the roadmap of the "Regional Strategy for Promoting a Culture of Sustainable Development and Involving Children and youth in the Climate Agenda", developed at the Central Asian Environmental Camp.
In addition, the participants of the event visited the Zarafshan National Nature Park in the Samarkand region. The young people stressed that to save ecosystems, it is necessary to reduce the anthropogenic, that is, the negative impact on humanity. Local and foreign eco-activists also got acquainted with the activities of the Central Asian University of Environment and Climate Change ("Green University").
The following results have been achieved within the framework of the International Youth Environmental Camp:
– the international volunteer network "Young Climate Champions" has been launched;
– An international platform for the promotion of environmental culture has been established;
– An initiative has been put forward to create and protect national natural parks and reserves for migratory species of wild animals in transboundary territories.
For information: On October 1–5, 2023, a Central Asian youth environmental camp dedicated to the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Climate Change – COP 28 was organized in Samarkand. It was attended by eco-activists from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, who focused on the culture of sustainable development. Within the framework of the event, a Central Asian strategy was developed to involve children and youth in the climate agenda, and a number of initiatives were put forward to address environmental problems.
