In Uzbekistan, particular attention is currently being paid to the development of environmental culture. Environmental education is becoming an integral component of the country’s sustainable development, while nurturing a responsible attitude toward nature is a key priority for both public policy and society as a whole.
In this context, a Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, “On comprehensive measures to accelerate environmental education, science, and awareness within the framework of the nationwide ‘Eco-Culture’ project,” has been adopted. The document provides for systemic reforms: as early as 2026–2027, 14 “green” technical colleges will begin operating in the regions, training 5,000 specialists, with this number set to increase to 10,000 by the 2028–2029 academic year.
At the same time, international cooperation is being strengthened. Each year, Green University will admit international students, while the number of specialists holding advanced degrees in environmental fields is expected to reach 150. Practical training facilities are being established at environmental protection sites, “green campuses” are being launched, and both “Eco-Scholarships” and the “Little Ecologist” badge are being introduced to support active youth.
Environmental Knowledge Day is not merely a date on the calendar, but a reflection of a systematic effort to cultivate environmental culture. In Uzbekistan, it is gaining new substance through large-scale reforms, investment in education and support for young people. This represents a meaningful contribution to a future in which environmental responsibility becomes a norm of everyday life.
