During the hearings, participants were provided with detailed information about the project. In particular, special attention was given to addressing traffic congestion in the capital and creating a convenient and safe environment for public transport, which, in turn, will help reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere. It was noted that vehicles stuck in traffic emit more pollutants than those in motion.
It was also emphasized that, if tree relocation becomes necessary as part of the project, it will be carried out in full compliance with environmental standards. In addition, the project provides for the creation of green spaces, pedestrian walkways, and other important public amenities.
During the hearings, responses were given to questions from representatives of the local community and the media regarding the project’s environmental impact, its benefits for residents and other significant aspects. In turn, local residents noted that traffic congestion is one of the main problems of the capital and emphasized the importance of the project aimed at addressing it.
For reference: the project includes the launch of a full-fledged Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network in Tashkent. The buses will operate on fully dedicated lanes, separated from other traffic, allowing them to avoid congestion. The project will be implemented in full compliance with international standards.
In addition, the project includes the installation of a modern drainage system, the upgrading of road barriers, the installation of modern bus stops, the construction of underground and above-ground pedestrian crossings, as well as the introduction of other elements aimed at improving the safety and convenience of all road users.
As a result of the project’s implementation, Tashkent will transform from a city primarily oriented toward automobiles into a comfortable, environmentally friendly and safe urban environment with priority given to public transport.
