I am confident that, with the commitment of the Government of Uzbekistan, it is possible to green desert areas at an accelerated pace. However, it is important to learn from past experiences and to place communities at the center of all initiatives. Genuine and lasting progress in addressing deforestation and forest degradation depends on the active involvement of local communities.
Another key factor is education. Education is the foundation of all progress. Engaging students in these initiatives and equipping them with knowledge is critically important. Alongside this, there are three key drivers shaping the future of our planet: youth, technology, and women. It is encouraging to see that Uzbekistan recognizes the importance of investing in these areas.
Uzbekistan has already demonstrated strong leadership in green development and environmental sustainability. This forum provides an important opportunity to position the region as a leader in forest-based solutions and sustainable land use.
